Software
Releases:
BizBench
We
have just completed
an agreement with BizBench
software to provide
Jennings Seminars attendees
with a 30% off discount
starting May 15, 2010.
This
powerful software was
originally designed
as a benchmarking software.
Benchmarking provides
financial analysis of
your client for cash
flow and operating issues
by utilizing historical
client information as
well as data from comparable
SIC industries of comparable
sizes. Two years ago
the software developers
added a new analytical
review system for reviewed
and audited financial
statements.
You
will have to call them
at 941-840-1040 after
5/15/2010 to get the
discount.

We have
also entered into
an agreement with
LogIn Tax, LLC ,
a new software company
in Florida and BizBench's
owners, to take
all of our accountant's
reports, checklists
and letters for
accounting and practice
management and turn
them into a full
database software
that they will sell.
They expect to release
the beta version
within about 3 weeks
and the final version
by mid-June. If
you want to, with
me, be one of about
10 beta testers
(for free) email
me at bobj@taxspeaker.com
and I will get them
to send you a beta
copy.

No Taxes This Newsletter-We Promise!
|
So a
most
unusual
tax season
has come
to an end.
We had two
new tax
bills passed
that did
not affect
the returns
we were
preparing,
but which
will have
major effects
in future
years.
We dealt
with the
most poorly
written
tax credit
in history-the
new home
credit.
We dealt
with a Congress
that has
set new
records
for ineffectiveness.
We dealt
with, and
are still
dealing
with, a
Congress
that has
still not
passed an
estate tax
bill for
2010.
We dealt
with an
economic
recession
that has
sent the
franchise
tax preparation
offices
into a tail
spin, and
West and
East coast
firms into
layoff positions.
Yet-we
are still
here, it
was a decent
year for
most of
us, the
sun is shining
and tax
season is
over! Hallelujah!
With
your permission
we are going
to do a
short set
of questions
and answers
about tax
season in
an email
this week-if
you feel
like participating
please respond
to the short
questions
regarding
tax season
(We will
keep everything
confidential
of course)
and we will
provide
the results
later in
the year.
I figure
that by
now most
of you have
had enough
with taxes,
so this
newsletter
will be
100% totally
non-tax,
with just
a quick
update on
some major
changes
out there
in ancillary
fields.

Health Care & Hiring Bills.
The Bills
that just won't
go away.
Because
of your demand
for a reasonably
priced update,
on April 28,
2010 from Noon-2
EDT we will
be holding a
live
streaming video
webcast
covering these
two bills. The
cost-$69. We
just received
an email blast
from a national
company offering
a phone call
update for over
$250 so ours
is pretty reasonably
priced, and
ours has
video, Power
Point, a real
manual instead
of handouts,
the ability
to ask questions,
2 hours of CPE,
and a real life
full-time practitioner
speaker (Bob
Jennings CPA).
It will be live
video-streamed
from our Clarksville,
Indiana training
center which
does allow a
small audience
of live attendance
as well.,
If you can't
make the live
streaming webcast
because you
don't have time
or a high speed
internet connection,
it will be available
on
DVD by theApril
30, as
well as available
by our new "Download
on Demand"
. And if
you are really
a true multi-tasker,
we will have
it an audio
version
as well!

SSARS
19-Changes
all
Financial
Statements
|
Over 30 years ago the AICPA established the
rules for reporting on unaudited financial statements known as SSARS.
In January of 2010 the AICPA’s ARSC committee released
SSARS 19 as a radical revision to many prior SSARS:
1.
Materiality
is
now
defined
for
compilations
and
reviews.
2.
A
written
engagement
letter
is
now
required,
3.
Workpaper
requirements
have
been
substantially
increased,
4.
All
prior
versions
of
accountant's
reports
for
compilations
and
reviews
have
been
substantially
modified,
5.
Many
other
smaller
changes
have
been
made.
What
does
this
mean
to
a
practicing
accountant?
All
of
your
accountant's
reports
are
changing
now,
properly
worded
engagement
letters
are
changing
now,
and
you
better
watch
your
workpapers.
The
changes
go
into
effect
in
December
of
this
year.
Our
2010
Compilation
&
Review
courses
will
have
as
a
primary
focus
detailed
analysis
of
this
change
from
the
point
of
view
of
a
small
firm
practitioner.
And
yes,
we
will
provide
you
with
all
the
new
letters,
reports
and
workpaper
guidelines
you
need.

The
dual
monitor
laptop
is
here-NOW.
|
A new
dual
monitor
laptop
from
Onkyo
is
now
available
and
we
have
one
on
display
in
this
year's
Technology
class.
Directly
from
Tokyo,
it
runs
Windows
7,
has
built
in
wireless
and
webcam,
2
GB
of
RAM,
a
320GB
hard
drive,
bluetooth
and
most
of
the
other
bells
and
whistles
you
expect
in
a
laptop.
It
costs
about
$1,300
imported. After
running
it
for
two
months-I
love
it.
It
is
small,
very
practical
and
has
a
very
functional
keyboard.
I
also
have
found
the
wireless
system
works
better
than
on
any
other
laptop
I
have
ever
used.
The
efficiencies
the
dual
moniotr
system
provide
are
fabulous.
The
screen
sizes
are
10.3"
each.
Negatives
are
heat
and
processing
power,
neither
of
which
are
a
major
issue.
We
will
be
using
and
displaying
it
at
all
of
our
Technology
seminars
this
year.
The
"What's
New"
section
of
the
Technology
course
is
the
biggest
ever-we
made
so
many
efficiency
producing
changes
in
the
office
this
year
with
the
newest
technologies
that
I
can't
wait
to
talk
about
them,
as
usual.
We
will
visit
Windows
7,
the
above
laptop,
cloud
computing,
Office
2010,
Internet
cameras,
wireless
broadband
routers,
Mi-Fi,
wireless
USB,
IPad,
Wireless
extension
software
and
hardware,
web
portals
(again),
our
complete
office
change-over
to
video
web
phones
and
more.
I
honestly
think
this
chapter
could
take
us
nearly
the
entire
day,
and
I
can
guarantee
the
ideas
this
year
will
blow
you
away
with
cost
savings,
profit-inducing
efficiency
changes,
and
speed-inducing
upgrades.
